Type: Card Mage
History: Card Magic has, in actuality, been around for a very long time to the point where it ranks up to being one of the more older types of magic. Though the idea of using cards as a medium for magic is recent cards have always been used to perform, what greenhorns would refer to as, magic. It wasn’t till a more recent century that a powerful mage had decided to use his knowledge to create a brand new type of magic. This mage spent years trying to find some sort of medium to use magic but all the ideas he had didn’t go over well with people such as his idea of a light mage using a torch as a medium. It wasn’t until he had found himself in a card game with an infamous con artist that he realized that cards, whether they are playing cards or even tarot cards, could be used as a medium for a mage type. The way the con artist could manipulate the cards with his hands told him that such an idea might work.
It took him years just to create the type of magic that people could use with cards but he had ended up having to cut the deck down the middle and create two different branches that people could seek to learn. He speculated that greenhorns, being new to this mage type would need to learn either to use cards for offensive capabilities or defensive capabilities. He made spells that ranged from using cards as boomerangs or even using cards to generate shields. In the end he had created two different types which, depending on the mage to be, would need to learn one or the other. As such once you choose one branch you will be trapped in learning those types of spells whether it’s to help the party from the back or try to attack from the front.
