Basic
Name: Sophie Ulster / Eve Ulster
Nickname: Jekyll and Hyde
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Level: Greenhorn
Guild: None
Description
Height: 5’1”
Weight: 125 lbs.
Appearance: (Click!)
While they were separated, Eve and Sophie looked pretty much identical. Their appearance as a single being hasn’t changed at all either. Both of them had light skin and short black hair that framed their faces quite nicely. They both enjoyed wearing casual clothing. Getting dressed up in fancy clothing never appealed very well to either of them. As long as it was comfortable, it was wearable. They were both about average height with wiry builds. The only way to tell them apart was their eyes. Eve’s eyes are purple while Sophie’s eyes are blue. That’s the only way to visually distinguish which twin is in control of the body. The body’s eye color will change to match whoever is in control.
Weapons: Whatever they can draw/find
Items: Magic Marker set of 12
Bio
Personality: Sophie has a sunny disposition. Her philosophy is that if you frown, everyone else will frown with you. If you smile, they might be inclined to do the same. She enjoys sweets and would like nothing more to spend all day eating various pastries and candies if it weren’t for Eve constantly scolding her. After all, only Sophie would be able to actually taste things if she was in control, but the body that they both share would gain weight. She enjoys romantic dramas even though she’s shy about romance herself. Sophie is also a bit naive and is easily fooled. It’s hard to imagine all of the trouble she would get herself into if Eve wasn’t constantly in her mind telling her not to believe everything she hears. As far as fighting goes, Sophie tries to avoid it whenever she can. Words solve problems much better than violence can according to her.
Eve is a bit on the cynical side. She hates dealing with other people. She rarely smiles and tends to be blunt with her words when she actually does speak to others. Like her teacher, she couldn’t care less for games or other frivolous things; she is often accused of being a stick in the mud by Sophie. Eve is a bit on the paranoid side. She always feels like she is being followed or someone is watching her, not including her sister of course. It even causes the occasional panic attack. In most cases Sophie will either have to try to talk her through the attack or take over for a short time until her sister calms down. Eve can’t stand things that are cute or fluffy, though she has a bit of a soft spot for cats. She loves combat. It was what she spent most of her time preparing for during her training period. The rush of adrenaline she gets from it feels absolutely invigorating.
Likes: Sophie enjoys candy, romantic dramas, happy stories, and the arts. Eve enjoys fighting, camping, and cats.
Dislikes: Sophie doesn't like fighting, frowning, seeing her sister in a bad mood, or anything that's overly complicated. Eve doesn't like anything frilly, indecisiveness, people, or her parents.
Jobs: None
Other: Generally Sophie is in control during the day while Eve is in control at night. However, sometimes one twin is able to take control of the body for a short time even when it’s not their turn depending on the situation. Even though only one of them can be in control at a time, both sisters can see, hear, and feel anything that happens to the body they share.
History: When Eve and Sophie were born, it was debated on whether they were identical twins or fraternal twins. Everything was the same about them except for their eye color. It may not have mattered too much, but it was often an argument between their parents, Janet and Nicholas Ulster. The debate on what kind of twins they were aside, Eve and Sophie grew up happily and were nearly inseparable.
One of their favorite hobbies was spending the afternoon drawing whatever they could find and competing to see whose picture resembled whatever it was they were drawing the most. This did not go unnoticed by their parents. Since they both had the potential to become mages, the twins were encouraged to become picto mages since their parents thought they would be talented at it. Eve and Sophie were delighted at the thought and agreed without hesitation.
It was then that Nicholas got an interesting idea. How would his daughters change if they were to spend time away from each other studying under different teachers? Perhaps it wasn’t ethical to basically use his children as guinea pigs, but he let curiosity get the better of him and quickly convinced Janet that it would be a good idea. The protests of Eve and Sophie fell upon deaf ears and they were separated at age eleven.
Sophie’s teacher was a kind hearted old man who emphasized drawing over magic. Creativity was an important part of being a picto mage. After all, how could you expect to use your magic effectively if you didn’t know what to draw? The old man nurtured Sophie’s imagination and tried to inspire her to create new things whenever the opportunity presented itself.
Eve’s teacher didn’t have the same ideas as the man that was teaching Sophie. She was a middle aged woman who only looked like she was in her early twenties. The woman wasn’t one for games and was convinced that combat training was essential for all mages. Eve didn’t get the luxury of the sheltered environment that Sophie had. Her instructor showed her that the world was a cold place and that good fortune didn’t just find you if you thought you deserved it. You had to fight for it, even if it meant dealing a killing blow to your opponent. Because of this, most of the pictures that Eve drew were of weapons; he training consisted of how to fight with the weapons she could draw.
The twins’ training concluded three years after they were sent to their respective teachers. Sophie was looking forward to going home again, but she received a phone call from her sister the day before they were supposed to meet up and go home. “Don’t you think it’s strange that three years have gone by without mom and dad contacting us at least once?” Eve asked over the phone. “I know what you mean, but I’m sure they’ll be happy to see us when we get home.” “Psh, who needs them? I think it’s obvious that we’re not wanted over there.” “Eve?! What are you talking about?” “Use your head Sophie! They never returned any of our letters, they never answered the phone when we called, and they split us up and told up not to contact each other until our training was complete.” “It’s not like we haven’t broken that rule plenty of times before...” “That’s beside the point! I think that if they don’t want to talk to us that much then we’re better off without them.” “You mean you want to run away?” “Duh...” “I don’t know about this. We’re only fourteen.” “It doesn’t matter. We can fend for ourselves.”
The conversation went on for nearly an hour before Sophie reluctantly agreed to go along with Eve’s plan. The twins met up and slipped away in the middle of the night, planning to never see their parents ever again. While travelling together, the Ulster sisters came across an old abandoned shack with some old scrolls inside. Sophie urged Eve to leave the shack alone, but Eve insisted that taking a looking inside wouldn’t hurt. If only she knew how wrong she was...
While looking through the old scrolls inside of the shack, one of them started to glow. The light drew in the twins like a moth to a flame. The light coming from the scroll filled the tiny room for a brief moment before dissipating. Those few moments had seemed like hours to Sophie and Eve. Their bodies had twisted and contorted, eventually merging into one being.
All of the scrolls had vanished with the peculiar light. It would seem that Eve had allowed her curiosity to get the better of her. As punishment, she not shared a single body with her sister. Eve and Sophie now travel the land in search of a way to break this curse and become two separate beings once more.
